Following is a simple method to backup AOL email accounts & export e-mails into MBOX, EML, MSG and PST file types using AOL Backup software.

Application Pre-Requisites

  • MS Outlook 2016/ 2013/ 2010/ 2007 is necessary to Save AOL data into PST
  • Turn off "Two Step Verification". Read More
  • Turn on access for "Allow Apps that use Less Secure Sign in". Read More
STEP 1

Launch the software from the installed location or Go to Start » All Programs » AOL Backup.

Fill Credentials


Select preferred language first. Add your AOL account by entering its respective email address and password and then click on the Login button.

Start the Backup by Clicking on Backup Option: After logging in software provides dual options for backup; first is Options and second is Filter Options. Choose preferred Email format: EML , MBOX (Apple Mail/Thunderbird), MSG (Microsoft Outlook) & PST (Microsoft Outlook) to backup the AOL user account data.

Select Destination Location: Clicking on Browse option you can choose the saving location on local machine to store the AOL emails.

Select additional options according to your needs.

Delete After Download: This will help you to download the email from AOL Account without keeping a backup on the Server or emails are automatically deleted from the Server while an email backup is completed.


Apply Filter: It helps you to selectively download AOL emails using predefined Filters.

Apply Filter Option
Select Folders: Choose selected folders from your AOL Account to be backed up.
E-Mail Filters: (Time Interval) Using this option you can back up all of your AOL e-mail from a specific date range. ‘From’ and ‘To’.

Preferences
For configuration of Internal Bandwidth and Time Slot Setting, Select “Preferences" Option.

Apply Supplementary Preferences:

Internal Bandwidth: Specify the Bandwidth of Internet for your machine either in kbps or mbps and provide the value of the percentage. The utility will consume bandwidth accordingly.

Apply Supplementary Preferences:
Time Slot Setting: Specify the Time Slot between which the Throttle setting should apply & define the percentage of specified bandwidth should be used.

Now click on Add button to add into the configured setting.

You can also Delete the setting by selecting the added preferences & click on Delete button.

The software will show you live backup process of AOL Account.
In this process, you can see Percentage of Backup Processed, Current Folder Name, Item Counts, Rate, Destination Folder Path and Status Progress. You can also pause in between the backup.

When you restart the software after pausing, it show the option to resume the backup process from the point where you have stopped the backup process.

Successful Notification confirms the complete download of AOL User Account data. Click OK:

Now return to the previous screen which displays the complete status of AOL Backup.

Verify the Result of AOL Conversion
Navigate to the location where the software has saved the local backup of your AOL Account e-mails.

For Viewing the PST into Microsoft Outlook
Open Microsoft Outlook » File » Open & Export » Open Outlook Data File and then select the file from its appropriate location.

Now Choose the PST from its saved Location.
