Steps to Import EDB File to Live Exchange Server

Import multiple mailboxes from offline/dismounted EDB to Live Exchange server by following very simple steps given here. And first of all ensure about the following:

Application Pre-Requisites

Exchange 2007 & Above
  • Make sure MS Outlook (2016/2013/2010/2007/2003/2002/2000/97) should be installed.
  • Check if you have login as administrator on your machine (where tool is running)?
  • Admin account must be impersonated. Watch Videos How to Apply impersonation in:

  • Make sure MS Outlook (2016/2013/2010/2007/2003/2002/2000/97) should be installed.
  • Check if you have login as administrator on your machine (where tool is running)?
  • Is your machine in the same domain with exchange server?
  • Have you granted FULL access permission to mailboxes? Refer for Exchange 2000/2003.
STEP 1

Launch the software by following steps: Start >> All Programs >> Exchange Recovery >> Exchange Recovery.

Click on Add File to add the EDB file.

Click on the Select File radio button and to browse the EDB file click on the “...” icon to navigate Public (Pub1.edb) and Private (Priv1.edb)

Note: If Priv.stm or Pub.stm on the same location where you have the .edb files, the software automatically select the .stm file. Otherwise you have to manually browse the STM file location and add if required.

Browse the desired EDB file, select it and click on Open button.

If you click on Select Search Option then there are two more options for searching the .edb files.

  • Search All Drive: To search the file from all the Drives.
  • Search Selected Drive: To search the file from selected drive.

After the searching process is completed, the software displays the list of .edb files stored on entire drive as shown.

Now choose the .edb file and add the file for scanning.

Next click Search option to search the .edb files.

Now you can see the storage path of EDB file. The software provides two modes for scanning: Quick and Advance.

  • Quick scanning mode: Provides faster recovery of mailboxes or folders from Exchange database files – .edb
  • Advance mode: If you are not able to view the data after using quick scan mode or if the .edb file is highly corrupted then use the Advance scan mode. As it is designed for deep data recovery task. This Software support Advance Scan on 64 bit OS also.

Click on Add button to proceed further.

Now the scanning process will start.

As soon as the scanning process is completed a dialog box appears confirming success of the scanning process, the left most panel displays the list of mailboxes in complete folder/directory hierarchy. Now user can save scan report if he needs. Click on Yes button if you want to save the scan results for the EDB file.

Click on the + option to expand mailbox items & click on specific folders to enumerate the list of the mails contained in the selected folder.

Normal Mail View : Select a particular Email to get a Normal Mail View of the e-mail data at the bottom pane.

Attachments : Preview Attachments present inside a particular email by clicking on the Attachments tab. It displays the list of attachments along with details present in the same & upon selection, the attachment is previewed on the bottom right corner.

STEP 9

Click on Export button to export the edb files.

Click on Live Exchange radio button to import the EDB file to Exchange online mailbox.You need to configure Live Exchange settings. Click on Advance Settings.

Configure Live Exchange Settings:

  • Admin Credentials: Enter SMTP address and password of admin user. If you uncheck this option then you will need to enter destination user name and password for every user at next step.
  • Server Version: Choose version of destination Exchange Server where you want to migrate.
  • IP Address: Enter IP addresses of computers where Exchange Server and Active Directory are installed.

Note: If you are using Exchange Server(2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016) then Admin account must be impersonated.

General Settings

  • Date & Time Filter Option: Apply date & Time filter to set specific duration of Date & Time Range to retrieve desired mailbox items.
  • Categories: This option allows users to select the desired mailbox items such as Mails, Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, Journals, & Notes.

A dialog box will appear. It shows the successful status of the saved settings. Click on Ok button.

Click on Live Exchange radio button.

There are two ways for migrating/exporting maiboxes live exchange.

  1. Enter Destination Mailbox
  2. Provide Destination Mailbox(SMTP address) from CSV

You can choose Enter Destination Mailbox option for migrating the EDB file to Live Exchange.

Then click on Next button.

The software will prompt for Exchange mailbox name. Provide the valid Exchange mailbox name as shown below. Now the mailbox will be validated.

The Export process will start. The software shows the status of the exported file.

You can save the Export Report with Success and Fail Count of the file. Click on Save button.

Save the file in CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format to the desired location. Click on Save button.

A dialog box appears. It will show the destination path of the saved Export Report. Click on Ok button.

Now you can navigate to the above destination path and view the Export Report in MS Excel.

Auto generate CSV

You can choose Provide Destination Mailbox(SMTP address) from CSV option to generate the CSV file automatically and import csv file containing the credentials for the mailbox.

Click on Auto generate CSV to import the CSV file.

Note: You can provide the credentials for multiple mailboxes to migrate from multiple source mailboxes to multiple destination maiboxes.


STEP 24

The software will let you browse the location where you want to generate CSV file. After browsing, click on Save button.

A dialog box appears. It will show the location of the CSV file. Click on OK button.

Now go to the location appeared in that dialog box. Open CSV file and enter your credentials.

Note: If there are mutliple mailboxes, then all the fields are mandatory to be filled.

Now click on Browse button to browse the generated CSV file.

Now browse the location of the file, select it and click on Open button.

Now you can see the path of the file. Click on Next button.

Now validation process of mailbox will start.

After validating process, you will get export option. Click on Export button to export the file.

The Export process will start. The software shows the status of the exported file.

You can save the Export Report with Success and Fail Count of multiple files file. Click on Save button.

Save the file in CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format to the desired location. Click on Save button.

A dialog box appears. It will show the destination path of the Export Report. Click on Ok button.

Now you can navigate to the above destination path and view the Export Report in MS Excel.

Click on single mail and right-click on it. Click on Export button to export the single email.

Click on Live Exchange radio button to import the EDB file to Exchange online mailbox.You need to configure Live Exchange settings. Click on Advance Settings.

Provide the mailbox id to which the data is to be exported. Click on Validate button.

It will validate the ID. Click on Export button

The Export process will start. The software shows the status of the exported file.

A dialog box appears to notify successful completion of export process. Click on Ok button.

You can save Export Report with Success and Fail Count of the file. If you want to check the exported file, click on the number corresponding to the source file.

Save the file in CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format to the desired location..

A dialog box appears. It will show the destination path of the Export Report file. Click on OK button.

Now you can navigate to the above destination path and view the Export Report in MS Excel.
